At Densilar, we are deeply committed to supporting the well-being of our farmers and the broader community. Our initiatives encompass a wide range of measures, including the provision of clothing, medical care, food, vacations, and communal dinners, all aimed at enhancing the community's overall welfare. We take pride in having enriched the lives of over 600 farmers through hands-on workshops and training programmes designed to promote sustainable farming practices, improve crop quality, and align with market demands.
Our emphasis on agricultural effectiveness covers various essential methods such as mulching, pruning, pest control, precise fertiliser application, and the removal of excess fruits. Moreover, our commitment extends to providing diverse employment opportunities, encompassing full-time, part-time, and internship positions, with a particular focus on supporting youth. We advocate for gender equality by actively encouraging and supporting women to take on management roles and become integral parts of our workforce.
We provide comprehensive training to farmers in grafting various avocado varieties, a practice that resulted in a doubling of output in 2023 compared to 2020. In our ongoing efforts to drive positive change, we actively promote the transition of farmers from poppy cultivation to coffee and avocado plantations. As part of this initiative, we distributed 3,000 free Arabica coffee nursery plants to 50 contract farmers in 2019, complemented by comprehensive training. This endeavour not only equips farmers with the necessary knowledge for cultivating and nurturing coffee plants but also ensures their proficiency in cultivating thriving coffee farms. This, in turn, paves the way for a better, more sustainable future for generations to come.
